Life expectancy
When we refer to the life expectancy of slaves, this means how long they lived on average, given the living conditions they were offered (food, health, housing, work, etc.). Because of these conditions - which were extremely precarious - life expectancy among slaves was very low. Life expectancy today is an important indicator that is taken into account when assessing countries' development - and is one of the data census assessments. In more developed countries, people's life expectancy is high (over 70 years). In poor countries, it is lower. In certain regions of Africa, for example, it is under 50 years old.
